Along with existing structures that are on the real estate market, there is a lot of development land available. For such a small place, there's a surprising amount of real estate to consider from affordable condos just off the beach to beachfront estates that simply take your breath away. These properties are generally higher end, luxury 2nd homes, or vacation rental homes that do very well in the high season from about October through to April. Over the decades, visitors have purchased much of the land and only a portion has been built on. This attracted more wealth to the area than it was use to. The initial surge of popularity in the 80's was mainly due to the first version of the marina being built. From Flamingo, can get to Playa Grande in 30 minutes, Tamarindo in 35 minutes, and the international airport in Liberia in about an hour. Nestled between the north and south ridges where the majority of structures are, the beach itself is a 1 km long strip of white, clean, gorgeous sand that descends into deep Azul waters with panoramic views of the Catalina Islands about 7 km off shore and the setting for what many believe to be the best sunsets in the world.
